Second Class Queer at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, London

01 — Project details

I was brought on as a Producer to support the nine performances of the one-person show Second Class Queer, performed and written by Kumar Muniandy. The one-hour show staged over 3 weeks at Riverside Studios in May 2026.

02 — Creative process

As a producer, I worked across the technical aspects of the performance and marketing the show to local audiences.

I helped to promote Second Class Queer across digital platforms and through engaging with local businesses to visibly stock and replenish posters and flyers.

I operated the lighting during the performance, ensured the stage was set up for each show, as well as troubleshooting; for instance, ensuring the room was fully cooled before each show when London was on the brink of a heatwave, and purchasing fabric for the projection from a local market. I also created a calm and nourishing space for the actor to rehearse and hosted a closing party at a local bar.

03 — Results

Each performance went ahead, without any technical hitches. On average, 55 tickets were sold for each show, a number commended by the staff at Riverside Studios, who, based on this success rate, immediately asked us to return for a second run in the Autumn.
