I was commissioned by Nerds-the London-based marketing agency- to research and write an in-depth report about the history of Pokémon cards and their entry into the alternative asset market. The report was for one of their clients who presented the findings of the report at a high-profile Pokémon influencer event in Las Vegas where they also distributed a hard copy of the document.
02 — Methodology
Collaborated with Nerds to create a framework to ensure the key commercial aspects relevant to the brief were covered within the report.
Undertook extensive desk research to trace the history of Pokémon and its exponential growth as an alternative investment asset.
Worked closely with the client: organised a survey to collate and interpret stats, gained a deep understanding of the financial platforms that alternative investment assets operate on, and extracted and interpreted market data to form comparative graphs and statistics.
Performed qualitative research exploring online communities to glean an understanding of the various kinds of collectors, their motivations, and market trends.
I interviewed ten collectors to distill key insights to convey a detailed snapshot of the UK Pokémon ecosystem.
Worked closely with a graphic designer to create a hard copy and PDF of the final report.
